BUSINESS MODEL
We trade in refined petroleum products as a bulk importer and distributor through Collateral Management arrangement by partnering with serious investors/suppliers to sell to ready off-taker. Bulk Distribution Companies, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCS), and provide good customer services to ensure repeat business; and manage our operating cost efficiently through regular reviews of our cost structure and optimization options to differentiate our position in the industry.

Competition exists in this industry in Ghana, however, with this CMA approach, we will not struggle to
keep pace with competition. It will further attract more off-takers, increase sales and further
increase our penetration in the market.

Ghana’s refined petroleum consumption for the past three years averages 4.67million metric tons yearly. Out of this, about 90% of the petroleum products are imported by Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs). while the remaining refined locally. In this regard, imported refined petroleum products are stored in
tank farms for onward sale to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) through their filling stations to the final
consumers.
There are 48 licensed Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) in Ghana. Out of the total number, ten (10) of the BDCs had a combined market shares of 75% whereas the remaining had a combined market shares of 25%.
This makes the market very competitive especially for new entrants. However, the good news is that, with the concept of Collateral Management Arrangement (CMA) being implemented by Wells Petroleum, it makes it easier to penetrate the market and keep pace with competition. Most BDCs in Ghana are unable to raise LCs to the tune of 50,000MT cargo value, hence getting access to dedicated and consistent supply of product has been a challenge over the years. The introduction of CMA will bridge that gap, where most of the BDCs will buy from us (those who do not have the financials capacity to undertake bulk importation), and Oil Marketing Companies, through which we can sell and pay for all products imported monthly.
